# Peptone selected to use NVIDIA's Cambridge-1 supercomputer

LONDON. Peptone was selected to use NVIDIA's Cambridge-1 supercomputer for its work in AI-driven protein engineering. The system was created to support projects in drug discovery, medical imaging, and genomics.

## Millions of concurrent simulations

Peptone planned to use Cambridge-1 to help design antibodies for several inflammatory disorders. The company combines generative AI, computational molecular physics, and laboratory experiments to model intrinsically disordered proteins, which lack a stable shape and are difficult to study with conventional methods.

> "We don't run one massive simulation, we run millions of short simulations," Dr. Tamiola said. "With many of these calculations running concurrently, we need to think about calculating events asynchronously to get the best performance from our system."

NVIDIA's A100 GPU and Ampere architecture made that workload easier to execute. Updated CUDA libraries also helped Peptone reduce latency by compiling the team's standard C++ code for NVIDIA GPUs.

Peptone's Product Engine, developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, searches for protein variants with promising therapeutic properties that may also be cost-effective to manufacture. At the time of the announcement, the technology was already in use for preclinical research.

Up to half of the proteins in the human body have disordered regions, including proteins involved in cancer, inflammatory disease, and neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Peptone uses AI and molecular simulation to investigate how mutations affect their behavior, then builds libraries of candidates for experimental testing.
