Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Kamil Tamiola

Dr. Kamil Tamiola is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Peptone and serves on its Board of Directors. A physicist by training, he was drawn to intrinsically disordered proteins by Prof. Sir Christopher Dobson’s work at St John’s College, Cambridge. He completed the Top Master programme in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Groningen, earning an MSc and PhD in applied NMR spectroscopy of disordered proteins. He later worked at the intersection of spectroscopy, molecular dynamics, biomolecular simulation, and intrinsically disordered protein biology before founding Peptone to unite experimental biophysics, statistical physics, high-performance computing, and machine learning.

Under his leadership, Peptone raised a $40 million Series A and expanded experimental operations in Bellinzona, Switzerland. The company couples measurements of dynamic proteins with computation, then returns predictions to the laboratory for testing. Kamil serves on the ELIXIR CZ Scientific Advisory Board and the Swiss Economic Forum SME Parliament.

Before Peptone, he worked in academic research and supercomputing. He also completed professional undergraduate training in music, specializing in Baroque repertoire and performance, a discipline that continues to shape how he works.

Outside biotechnology, he practised alpine and outdoor photography professionally, with work featured by National Geographic, Outside, and other international publications. His leadership reflects the same emphasis on preparation, interdisciplinarity, and evidence.
